Several Griffith International Students attended to Harmony Day and Neighbour Day Celebration Dinner on the 29th of March at the Greek Club in South Brisbane, hosted by the Brisbane City Council.
The event was facilitated by Study Brisbane and it celebrates and affirms that everyone belongs and makes a valuable contribution in our community. It promotes the building of strong relationships as people who live together in this city.
The Highlights of the celebrations were:
- Welcome by an Aboriginal Elder
- Refreshments provided by the Greek Club
- An opportunity to meet friends and make new ones through café-style conversations
- Musical entertainment
- The launch of a new series of Community Café Dialogues
Study Brisbane, the Brisbane City Council, Peace and Conflict Studies Institute Australia (PaCSIA), the Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland and Griffith University Multi-Faith Centre are all committed to facilitating strong relationships and cooperation between the diverse communities of Brisbane.
The continuing message for Harmony Day in 2012 was that “Everyone Belongs”.
Griffith International Students also participated in Harmony Day activities held in different Griffith University Several campuses to honour this day 2012.
