On March 31, the Save Japan student fundraising team held a Japanese disaster appeal to raise donations for Japan Earthquake victims. International and local students from Asian countries were involved in an Asian Food Fair, featuring Japanese, Korean and Chinese food.
We organised a BBQ that was set up in front of the Griffith University, Gold Coast Student Guild and the food was proudly prepared and served by students from Japan, Korea, and China. A mass of people gathered around for the food, which was all sold at just $5.00 a plate.
Through this event, we raised $1319. In addition, with the cooperation of Coffee Bug, where the Save Japan team had put donation boxes at each of the Coffee Bug cafes where over $2500 was donated. With your generosity, we raised almost four thousand dollars for the Australian Red Cross – Japan and Pacific Disaster Appeal 2011.
The student fundraising team would like to thank all Griffith students for their concern, support and donations towards the ‘Save Japan’ fund.
We also laid out for anyone to send a message to the people of Japan and was quickly filled with colourful messages from students and faculties in many different languages.
Japan has put in a lot of effort and money in helping people’s lives. They have been working so hard to prevent secondary damage and they will need an enormous amount of peoplepower and money to recover the affected areas. The people of Japan feel very grateful that so many people from all over the world are being so generous in donating and showing their concern about their welfare following the tragic events on March 2011.
Donations can still be made Online through the Australian Red Cross – Japan and Pacific Disaster Appeal 2011
Japan will keep our hope for the future and let’s pray for Japan!
Thanks again to you all for your support and enjoy the slideshow…
