Part 1
When does University start?
The academic year in Australia begins in February/March. This is the main intake of students, but many programs can be started in July/August. For instance the Bachelor of International Business at Griffith University has intakes for both semester 1 & 2.

What qualifications will I need to get in?
University entry requirements vary depending on the program you want to study, and the career level whether Undergraduate or Postgraduate. You can check the academic entry requirements for international students at Griffith here – Entry requirements
How long will it take the Uni to make a decision?
In most cases you must allow one or two weeks to inform you about an offer of a place in your chosen degree program. (5 to 10 working days)
When should I apply?
Again it depends on the degree program but popular programs do fill up quickly so you do need to get your application in as early as possible. So preferably 3 to 4 months or more at least a few months before the start of the year/semester. This will enable you to get everything (visa, travel bookings etc.) organised rather than leaving it all to the last minute.
How do I apply?
Check out the Griffith website for international degree students which will guide you through the process on how apply.
Here are the 3 main options:
Apply directly Online
Apply through a Griffith Recruitment Agent
Apply via mail, simply download, print and complete the International student application form (PDF 778k) and send to the mailing address listed on the form.

Part 2
Will I need a visa?
Yes. You’ll need to get a student visa to study any course longer than three months.
When should I apply for a student visa?
You can only apply for a student visa once you have received a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) from the Griffith Univeristy Internatnional Office. In order to obtain a CoE, you must have been given a formal offer of a place by Griffith and accepted it in writing plus paid the deposit toward your tuition fees, so it’s actually one of the last things to organise.
Will I need medical insurance?
As an international student it is a visa requirement in Australia that you (and your family, if applicable) have appropriate levels of medical cover throughout your time in the country studying. In Australia, this is called Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). This can be arranged for you by the University or you can organise it yourself. For more details see Health Insurance
Can I work while I’m studying?
On a student visa you will be allowed to work up to 20 hours per week during term-time, and full time in the holidays. When your visa is granted you will receive permission to work, though please note that you are not allowed to begin working until you have started your course. Any work that is a formal, registered part of a course is not included in the limit of 20 hours per week.
