Introducing a brand new blog from a team of current international students at Griffith University.
Not just an ordinary bunch of students, we are an elite team of Bachelors, Masters and Research students that have been highly involved in supporting new students as they arrive here in Australia and start their new life here in Queensland at the Brisbane, Gold Coast and Logan campuses of Griffith.
The GI Ambassadors will tell our stories here in weekly chapters and in a written game of tag, where individual Ambassadors will each take on the responsibility for a weeks worth of posting entitled – “A week in the life of (insert name), an International Student at Griffith University” – before tagging one of their colleagues to take over the following week.
Visitors to our blog, whether future, current students or Alumni should feel free to comment and ask questions. Or contact us and add your story to the collective. Hopefully our stories and ongoing commentary and responses will be of help to all kinds of students, whether you are looking to study in Australia, Queensland and at Griffith or elsewhere.
We don’t have all the answers, but what we do know is:
- What it is like to research and apply to study at a University in a foreign land.
- How to prepare for leaving home for a few years of study overseas.
- How it feels to arrive, find accommodation, survive orientation, get enrolled in courses and meet new people so that you don’t get lost in the crowd…
- And most importantly how to succeed at your studies, whilst having a really good time at University, and staying safe in your new home.
We will probably have to add to that list as we go along, but that’s a pretty good description of how we help international students at Griffith.
